The Single Plan for Student Achievement

The Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) is a plan of actions to raise the academic performance of all students. California Education Code sections 41507, 41572, and 64001 and the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) require each school to consolidate all school plans for programs funded through the ConApp and ESEA Program Improvement into the SPSA.

2015-2016 Plan Goals

1.   Language Arts/Literacy

CAASP (Smarter Balance): Increase the number of students meeting standard or above standard on the CAASP assessment from 68% to 70%.

ELA/SLA DIBELS/IDEL: 85% of students scoring below standard will move up one performance band by the end of the year. Students in proficient and advanced will maintain their performance.

2.  Math

CAASPP (Smarter Balanced): Increase the number of students meeting or scoring above standard on CAASPP Math Assessment from 67% to 75%.

3.  Social Emotional Learning

The McKinley Community will ensure a school climate where all students feel safe, supported and engaged in their learning and social emotional development.

4.  School Wide Enrichment Model

As a District we have moved from a GATE model to a program that embraces enrichment opportunities for all students. At McKinley we have been committed to enriching our educational program for many years through innovative curriculum development at each grade level. We are committed to the SEM program and will develop a comprehensive timeline based on the BSD SEM guidelines. Our teachers will be using Type I (General Exploratory Activities) and Type II (Group Activities) in the initial year of the SEM program. As a staff we will be developing creative lessons that teachers are passionate about, thus exposing students to curriculum and learning in different ways.

5.  Visual and Performing Arts

McKinley students will construct and demonstrate their understanding of visual and performing arts as outlined in the BSD Visual and Performing Arts Education Plan. 100% of students will receive integrated art lessons in core subjects or enrichment opportunities.
